Nearly perfect

Nothing a few software tweaks wouldn’t fix. Polygon zones and the ability to save zones on maps other than the main map. Also an eject robot command for getting the robot out of the base station.

Great home helper

We’ve been amazed at the manoeuvrability of this little robot! He gets around the house very well and it’s wonderful to be able to have our floors maintained with little effort. A manual vacuum of some corners and areas is still required, but because our floors are cleaner on a daily basis, it’s needed less often. It doesn’t completely replace the need for manual cleaning, but what it can do it does very well. Very helpful for the time poor! We love our Narwal!

Narwal Freo Z Ultra Robotic Vacuum & Mop

Unexpectedly underwhelming

With a toddler and infant, I was on the look out for something that vacuum/mop around toys, bouncers and bit of household furniture that could be in different spots.

The Freo Z is not that vacuum. The “AI” detects an object (like a toy), takes a picture and then proceed to drive right into it. Also the same with cables, app shows an alert that it is stuck, and needs attention. Only to find it had found some cables (again it detected and took a photo of) and had gotten them stuck all around the roller brush.

Things like a baby bouncer, stools (with rounded base) or an indoor clothes line that an angled base going up, the vacuum will try and go up the pole either get stuck or fall off.

Stair detection is also a joke, left the door to the garage open (garage is not mapped in the app), and it decided to drive into the garage, and fall down the step.

It’s not good to run while you are home with the kids, the thing won’t stop if you are in it’s way, and run into your ankles (even tries to drive over the baby laying on their play mat)

The app is a joke, constant “loading”, “can’t connect” , error messages or “contact support”.

For a premium product that is advertised with these advanced features and technology, it falls very short when users in the real world. Most of these things can be fixed via software updates, but shouldn’t have issues like this out of the box, if they are being advertised.
